This ensures streamlined care, cost saving and upholds the autonomy of patients (Huynh, 2022).

The regulation has seen several changes over the last five years, in 2020 the FPA regulation was finally passed giving California nurses’ practitioners full capacity to perform physician duties. By 2023 the nurses’ practitioners will have full capacity to function as primary care physicians (Cassiani, 2020).
