The main reason for selecting the article concerns the increased rates of childhood obesity; where, as of 2020, the world statistics show that children below five years and with obesity were approximately 39 million (World Health Organization, 2021).

I retrieved Smith et al. (2020) article from PubMed Central, one of the nursing and medical databases that provides authentic, credible, and reliable articles and journals on life and biomedical sciences. The main problem I encountered searching for the article is that most researchers merged their research on children with obesity with that of young adults, making me spend a lot of time looking for an article that solely focused on obesity in children.

I am confident that my colleagues would find the PubMed Central database essential in their nursing research since it provides full-text articles making it cost-effective for a student compared to other databases that require one to pay for full articles. Also, considering that the database was initiated in 2000, it has a variety of research articles on nursing practice that can help advance their knowledge of different nursing areas (PubMed Central, n.d).

The main reason why I would recommend the use of PubMed Central is based on the fact it has a large data volume on medical and nursing articles. As a result, it will facilitate carrying out evidence-based research since all its articles and journals are available in full-text.
