The population health concern focused on during my pediatric experience is Covid-19 among pediatric patients and school-aged children. During my pediatric experience, I discovered that as a nurse, I am a significant change agent who can propose and implement evidence-based interventions to improve patient care and outcomes. However, my weaknesses of shyness in public speaking and lack of patience have improved after practicing my nursing roles as an educator, advocator, and counselor to my clients. After identifying the change project title, I used my strengths in appraising literature to find evidence-backing the implementation of education and prevention of Covid-19.

Developing the strategic plan helped me visualize how I could track the project towards the desired goal. I demonstrated leadership through consistently mentoring my colleagues and nurses about my proposed change project and tactful communication with open-mindedness. I learn that giving clients and caregivers full attention and listening attentively are significant in building one’s credibility.

Inquiry into Current Practices

Current practices used to fill the knowledge gaps among patients and caregivers about Covid-19 involve using health education sessions. Nurses deliver content about different aspects of Covid-19 and highlight preventive measures which pediatric patients and caregivers should adopt during and after discharge. However, nurses do not use research resources on Covid-19 prevention. Additional resources that would be introduced to assist in implementing the project include current research resources on Covid-19 prevention for pediatric staff and patients. Research resources such as most current journal articles and conference presentations will help achieve optimal outcomes Professional Capstone And Practicum Reflective Journal Assignment.

Role of Technology in Improving Health Care Outcomes

Technology has played a significant role in improving health care outcomes. During my pediatric experience, I learned that technology helps health care providers diagnose and treat patients more effectively. For example, using electronic health records (EHRs) has improved the delivery of care and health care outcomes in the pediatric unit. EHRs are a computer system that allows providers to track patient information in a centralized location. Also, providers can quickly and easily retrieve patient information and share it between different care providers, improving patient care quality. Technology has also allowed patients to stay connected with their health care providers and receive updates on their progress (Astier et al., 2020). In addition, technology has helped patients learn about healthy lifestyle choices and how they can prevent health problems. Overall, technology has played a significant role in improving health care outcomes and should continue to be utilized to improve patient care.
